  1. Yay!! I was actually about to email you and ask if you both could do a music episode. This was awesome 🙂
And yeah, NEEDTOBREATHE, The Gray Havens, Shane and Shane, and Shai Linne are such great artists/bands.
I love listening to for KING&COUNTRY’s Crave album and other bands with that piano-based, catchy theatrical pop/rock style (yeah, I love categorizing music 😉 ), Abe&Liza Philip (songsfromscripture.com) for folk/rock style Scriptural and theological music (from my parents actually!!), and just about anything unique and folk/pop/rock.

Episode suggestion: The Reformation’s 500th Anniversary. That would be AMAZING!

      1. I would second that episode suggestion! Since the Reformation 500th anniversary is coming up, it would be really great to have an episode dealing with that incredibly important part of church history.

  2. I was really excited when I saw that you did a episode on music! It was really good and had some interesting points that I hadn’t thought of before.
My favorite Christian band is for KING & COUNTRY, particularly their Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong album. TobyMac and Switchfoot are also really great.
As far as secular music goes, I don’t listen to much except for twenty øne pilots. They’re really good, and they do lots of different genres.

  3. Great episode! Btw Mr. Crowe, if you don’t want to feed Jaquelle’s obsession for Halo Top, stop buying her Halo Top. ?

For just fun and enjoyment music I like to listen to some Keane, and also (near) hometown favorites in Relient K (from Canton, Ohio). They’re Christian, but at the same time have some really nice random songs.

For my main listening though, I really like Sovereign Grace Music (The T4G albums mostly). Rich Mullins is great! ?? I’ve been really enjoying some old Caedmon’s Call, one of my favorites being “Before There Was Time” and “Carry Your Love”.

I was surprised you didn’t even mention Switchfoot! I’m disappointed. ? They’re not my favorite, but I do enjoy some of their music.

Thanks for going through those six guidelines by Bob Kauflin. Those were very helpful.

    1. Seth, I would never spend my hard-earned cash on HT. That is all Jaquelle 🙂

As for your comments on music, I can’t believe I didn’t mention switchfoot. I am a big fan. Also a big fan of SGM. If you liked the T4G albums you should try attending one of the conferences. BK does an amazing job of leading the worship music.

      1. I’m counting down the days until T4G registration. A few from my church have gone to that in the past and I don’t want to miss out this next year.

I love the fact that it’s just BK, a piano, and thousands of voices.

        1. Sovereign Grace music is really wonderful!! I’m a huge fan of pretty much all their music (kids albums included. :D) I’ve actually met BK once, and he is such a genuinely nice guy. And his 6 guidelines for music are pretty spot on. Thanks for the episode guys, it was thought-provoking and encouraging, as usual!

          1. I got to meet him at SGM’s booth at TGC17. Definitely a very nice guy. He is really easy to talk to.

  4. I really enjoyed this episode. I’ve been struggling with finding the line between music that is okay for me as a christian to listen to and those guidelines have given me more ideas to think about. Do yall like NF? or Andy Mineo? I tried to like Shai Linne, but he’s just not my favorite (I’m with Jaquelle on Trip Lee). I really like Owl City, Relient K, Switchfoot, Paramore, Jimmy Needham (he’s amazing, out of anyone on this list, I beg you to check him out) and a few others.

Thanks for doing this podcast, it really gives me something to look forward to on a weekly basis.

    1. Thanks for your comment, Linnea, and thanks for listening to AOM.

I am a big fan of both NF and Jimmy Needham. But how could you not like my man, Shai? 🙂

      1. I think it’s cuz my uncle likes him so much and I was low-key pressured to like him, so me being me was like nah fam I’ll pass. I’ll probably try to get into him later but for now he’s a bit tainted to me. I’m really glad you like NF though, many parents and adults I know think he’s too violent or graphic. (I respectfully remind them that I go to public school)

  5. Thanks for another great episode guys!!! NeedtoBreathe, Citizen Way, Tauren Wells, Brandon Heathe, Love and the Outcome, and Zach Williams are just some of my favorite Christians artist. Thanks for your dedication to your listeners and your podcast have become the thing I look forward to the most in my nighttime routine. You guys rock!

    1. P.S.
Bekah Shae on YouTube take secular songs and turns them into Christian songs, which are amazing! I totally recommend checking her out. 🙂

  6. Hey Jaquelle and Sean!

This is probably one of my favorite episodes of all time! I really like listening to music! Shane and Shane are pretty good. And I like certain songs by NEEDTOBREATHE. But I have some favorites!

I was heartbroken to hear that Sean doesn’t like Jamie Grace. She’s my favorite artist ever! Check out her newest song Reverb (it’s a rap)! It’s off of her album ’91!

I also like Willow City, Joshua Micah, Owl City, Zoe Grace, Sarah Reeves, V.Rose, Francesca Battistelli, Tauren Wells, The Young Escape, Josh Wilson, and Stars Go Dim.

Do you guys listen to any specific Christian radio stations that play the songs you guys like to listen to? What do you think about the radio station K-Love?

    1. So glad to hear that this episode is a new favorite, Grace! I’m going to listen to “Reverb” now!

I like most of those artists too! I LOVE Owl City and have just been listening to V. Rose again after a while.

We don’t really listen to any Christian radio stations. We’re Spotify people, so occasionally we’ll listen to radio stations on there but we don’t listen to stations like K-Love. We think it’s fine to listen to, as long as you exercise discernment (like you should in every area of life). =)
